‘F1 in Schools’
North India Regional Finals 1

  • About the event:

 The event ‘F1 in Schools’ was organized by ‘Time of Sports’ in the form of a competition in which 53 teams from 13 different schools of Delhi NCR (including one school from the state of Jammu and Kashmir) participated. The students, which were over 250 in number, designed a race car which was later cast into a miniaturized car. The car was propelled by the pressurized CO2 canister over a 24m long racing track. Teams competed on an overall accumulation of points (total of 1000 points) which included points on reaction time (time taken for pulling the trigger), overall time (time spent on covering the race track) as well as aspects related to the dynamics of team work, overall look and feel of the team’s pit booth/stall, group presentation, engineering judging etc.

 

 

  • Conduct of the event:

Suncity School hosted the event which was divided into two phases.

  • Phase 1: The Pre-testing Phase was the phase in which the participating teams came to Suncity School to test their working model on the track. This started off from Thursday, 13th December 2018 and went on till Sunday 16th December 2018.  For this phase, the participating teams came to the auditorium within the time frame of 15:30 hours - 20:00 hours.

  • Phase 2: The testing phase comprised of the following:
  • The briefing of judges by the organizers and pre-judging of the portfolios submitted by the participating teams by the judges took place on Wednesday, 19th December 2018 from 14:00 hours on the 1st floor (library) of the IA building.
  • The final event took place on Thursday, 20th December 2018 and Friday, 21st December 2018.

 

The event on both the days started off at 8:00 hours and concluded by 18:30 hours. The participants entered the school from Gate. No. 2 and three venues within the school were used for these two days. The registration happed in the basketball court area, the verbal presentation (VP) and the engineering judging (EJ) took place in the IA building and the reaction races and knock-out races happened in the auditorium.

 

 

  • Closing of the event:

The felicitation ceremony started off at 16:30 hours (on Friday, 21st December 2018) after the arrival of the guests of honour, which included Ms. Mehak Jaipuria (Director, MR Jaipuria Group of Schools) and Mr. Kanak Gupta (Vice-president, MR Jaipuria Group of Schools).

After the event concluded, the guests of honour were escorted to the conference room for tea and snacks. They were joined by Ms. Kavita Malviya, Ms. Kavita Lal, Ms. Deepali Singh, Mr. Anil Yadav and Mr. Vivek Mandal.

At 19:00 hours, the guests of honour were escorted to the reception area from where they existed the premises with the organizers. The organizers came back in 10 minutes and started packing up from the auditorium as well as the IA building for their final exit.
